Christmas List

Subject to Change

As usual, the bulk of my list is books and DVDs. But I am asking for another thing too, which is a shock!

Card table (or a similar table) with a HARD surface. No padding.

What may be considered a 'lap table' and/or a chalkboard.

Okay, now for the usual junk, ordered from most want to least want. The ones with a * is what I want the most. BTW, I've already seen Batman Begins in theaters!!!

Books

* The CSS Anthology - Instead of teaching CSS, it shows common problems and the solution for that problem. The 'cookbook' approach I so much like. $40. (Ouch)

* DSM-IV-TR - the actual thing instead of the lightweight I got now. EXPENSIVE. ~ $65

Machiavelli's The Prince - Cost varies as this is a classic. If you can get his "The Art of War", which has nothing to do with Sun Tzu (and which I already got), all the better. It may be cheaper to get them separately.

DVDs (all in widescreen, NOT fullscreen!)

* Batman Begins
Constatine
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
What Lies Beneath
Star Wars: Episode III
Lost in Translation

So little time....

I compiled this list when someone said I recently meet said, "I think seemingly there are too many [classics] but that's because people refuse to refine their taste for anything, literature, film, etc." That lead me to compile this ridiculous list of books I have and either haven't finished... or even started! And its not even complete! That will be just way, way, way too long and there is enough dust on my two bookshelves to do that. Ask for a pic... hope still got it. So these are just the ones I want to mention. They do not include anthologies (Lovecraft, Asimov) or major tomes like The Bible and The Koran, which I DO have. Found a lot of misquotes of The Koran. Going to include the genre/subject in parenthesis and those with a '*' I highly recommend.

Started

The Art of Rhetoric (Aristotle)
Calculating God (sci-fi novel for the gnostically inclined)
Competitive Strategy (biz)
Cryptonomican (novel about crypography)
***** DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA *****
Diplomacy (political history by Kissinger)
Dracula (horror classic... chapter 4 GREAT, chapter 5 BORING)
Don Quixote (Spanish classic)
The Elegant Universe (String theory) *
Faith and Freedom (Luther)
Frankenstine (horror classic)
Gödel, Escher, Bach (little of every abstract subject you can think of!) *
The Hero with a Thousand Faces (mythology, The Hero's Journey)
The Hidden Book (short mystery novel set in Transavania)
The Midnight Disease (writing, neurology, psychology disorders) *
Nicomachen Ethics (Aristotle... wonder how this INTP brainiac stayed sane)
A Sideways Look at Time (philosophy, musings)
Sun Tzu's The Art of War (war philosophy)
The Two Americas (politics)
The Urantia Book (don't ask!)

The last two Hitchhiker novels (got all 5 in one book)

Haven't Started

Ethics of Liberty (Libertarian philosophy)
Kama Sutra (whatever your doing, STOP IT! Electronic, require formatting)
Paradise Lost (classic)
Phantom of the Opera (classic)
Tale of Two Cities (classic)

Important FYI

A few things.

1) Found out Blogger now has a way to prevent automated spammers from spamming our blogs! Check the one before this one, on griddlers. All of that is spammers! Well, the last is me.

2) Started a blog on me currently applying for the Peace Corps. Hopes it will become a lot more over the next 3 or so years. Already edited and installed StatCounter.

3) Started to implement Google's AdSense. Seem to flicker a bit when the page loads though. Hmmm....

4) I missed and totally forgot Martha's Apprentice yesterday. What happened?!? If that obnoxious one got fired, I am going to cry. I want to see him get fired!
